8th September: Today we discussed our ideas further and managed to get our ideas down to three songs which were DJ Sammy- Heaven, Ellie Goulding- Be mine and Ellie Goulding- You my everything. We come up with pro's and con's to each song, but overcome them and made a final decision.
This took a lot of discussion and we had to figure out what would work and what wouldn't and what would be best suited to our group as we are an all girl group so did not have a boy to lip sync if there were any boy parts within the song.
9th September: Today we brain stormed idea's for each of the songs that we had come up with this helped to finally decide on a song for our final music video. We really liked Heaven by DJ Sammy but we found that it was really slow and emotional and even though it would be a really good song to do it would be too hard to do, especially as the song is about a love theme.
Be Mine by Ellie Goulding ft. Erik Hassle was the song we found first but as there was a man singing in it too and even though it would be easier to do than our first option we still found that it would be a lot more of a challenge than we need so we decided not to do that one. Finally, we all decided we like You My Everything by Ellie Goulding because it was a lovely song that was sung by just her. I came up with the idea about using sparklers in the night and then when we edit things put them in slow motion so the effect will look really cool and original. We came up with a more abstract idea of drugs and teenagers having fun by mucking around.
10th September: Today we worked on a PowerPoint to present our ideas to the class to show them all of our ideas so we could get feedback from other people on what they think of our song choices and what one they think will be most successful.
11th September: Today we presented our ideas to the class so we could get their feed back on what they think would work and what would not work for our group. They also agreed with us that You my Everything was the best choice for our group as they think that we would have a lot of chances to include creative ideas.
12th September: Today we researched music videos that were by similar artists to ours so we could get an idea of what our artist would wear and how the video would be set out.
15th September: Next we found things that inspired us for our video idea such as fireworks, sparklers and the programme skins which helped us to create a vision for our music video.
16th September: Today we worked on a timeline for our music video we got the lyrics and planned out a shot for each part of the song. We decided to do this so we could put our vision for our music video onto paper and this helped to create our storyboard later on.
17th September: Today we had to decide who would be the main star for our music video so we did a lip syncing task. We come down to Charlotte and Emma as they both said they wouldn't mind being the star, however we all made a group decision that Charlotte would be best for the role. Charlotte lip synced to Pia Mia- Just hold on we're going home. We filmed this with a microphone in the music room so it looked more professional. We filmed the lip sync twice so that we could get two different angles of the singing. We then went back to class and edited the song so that it looks more professional. We put a black and white filter over it and added fades to change from the shots.
18th September: Today I created some mood boards for our music video including costume for both the male and females in the video and inspirations and themes we come up with. I also created the website on Wix for our artist 'Grace Starr.'
19th September: Today we started on the Storyboard for our music video. Charlotte drew the pictures whilst Me and Emma added the timings in and worked out what type each shot would be and coloured them in afterwards.
22nd September: We continued to draw the Storyboard and once we finished we photographed it and uploaded it into adobe premiere so we could add a voice over so we could explain each shot into detail. Emma was the voice over for the storyboard and Charlotte edited it.
23rd September: We continued with the Storyboard and adding a voice over. We soon realised that the shots on our storyboard were not broken down into enough detail so we began to add more shots to the storyboard. We also found some digi pack inspiration so we could take them into consideration when making our own dig pack for our artist. I also found some inspiration for makeup and researched on YouTube Effy from skins makeup tutorials that we could work towards.
24th September: Emma continued to draw more shots for the Storyboard and I recorded a voice over for the mood board to help explain our overall vision in more detail.
25th September: Today we created social media for our star, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I added another page onto our website, and created a 'merchandise' page. I made different types of merchandise from tops to phone cases so that our fans can purchase them. After this we had a general blogging day where we added more detail to our blogs about our production so far. Emma continued with the Storyboard.
26th September: Today we continued working on our storyboard, as there was a problem with it when we thought we was finished. Therefore we went through and added more shots because we originally made a mistake. When we done that, we continued to do a voice over on it to add more detail.
29th September: Throughout this lesson we kept updating twitter, Facebook and instagram. We kept adding posts and creating tweets to promote to our fans the music video that is on its way.
30th September: Today we worked on updating our blog to make sure its up to the highest standard. We also created a shooting schedule and risk assessment for when we film.
1st October: On our inset day at school we all went to Charlotte's house to do a photo shoot of the upcoming star and some lip syncing of singing along to the song so we could use this for the lip syncing parts of our music video. We borrowed lights from the school and took them to the set to make the lighting look professional. When doing the photo shoot we had me as a makeup artist and i done Charlotte's makeup, and I also was the photographer and took photos of her.
Here is a couple of photos from our photo shoot and a shot of behind the scenes and the lights:
3rd October: We continued to edit all photographs so they looked more professional.
6th October: Today we aimed to finalise the story board and finished it with all voice overs and editing done.
7th October: Today we was given a task for put everything we have done already onto a PowerPoint and present our star to the rest of the class to get feedback and share ideas on the promotional things we have all done. We spent today's lesson collating all of the information we have and everything we have achieved so far and put it on a presentation. During lunch I created a teaser trailer so we could show this to the class on the clips we have so far. This gave them an indication of what our music video is going to be like.
8th October: Today, we showed our presentation to the class and watched everyone else's. We then had the chance to answer questions about each others stars to give feedback to each group on the things we thought were good and things we think that could improve. In my free period i also created a teaser trailer for our music video.
9th October: Today we watched another presentation from a different class to also give them feedback so we have a lot of opinions. At lunch I started to design different album covers that we could use for our album 'In Time'.
10th October: Today we was not in lesson as Pete Fraser came in to give us some blog help and feedback on our music video ideas. I found this very helpful as we could make sure that we do not do what he tells us not to do and he helped us so we can achieve the highest possible grade. After this me and Charlotte picked up the generator and lights from school so we are prepared for filming the next day.
Saturday 11th October: FILM DAY! We all got together around 5 o clock so we could start makeup and hair and costumes for the filming. Everyone included in our filming went to Charlotte's house where I done every ones hair and makeup to make them look the part. We then set off with the lights and generator to our destination to start filming.
13th October: Today we uploaded the footage that we had filmed and started going through to pick out the shots that worked and the shots that didn't. Using the storyboard and shooting schedule, we started to upload the shots onto premier to start editing them together.
14th October: Today we continued work on our blog to make sure everything is up to the right standards.
15th October: In class we carried on with editing.
16th October: All three of us sat down and carried on editing to find out what effects we all liked and what effects we did not like. I also created the album covers and began work on the digipack.
17th October: Today i wrote a letter to a record label Polywood Ltd to ask for permission to use their song.
20th October: Today we carried on editing and making sure we have enough shots. We noticed that we still need more things to film therefore we came up with ideas for more footage.
21st October: Today in lesson i started looking at interviews for inspiration for our own and uploaded them onto my blog. Me and Charlotte also came up with questions that can be asked in our own interview. Then, in my free I started to create a RADAR magazine interview.
22nd October: Today me and Charlotte filmed an MTV Interview. Once filmed i uploaded the footage onto premiere and started to edit. In my free I made a steal-o-matic.
23rd October: Today i finished editing the interview and uploaded it onto my blog. I then added the footage we have so far onto the blog.
24th October: Today we all viewed music videos that we could find to see what worked well and what doesn't work so well.
3rd November: Today i created a survey monkey that the audience can fill in so we can answer some questions on audiences.
4th: We done some more thinking on what we could include in our extra footage.
5th November: Today we done some extra footage that we could include into our video to show a different side to our artist.
6th November: We added all of our footage onto the computers and started looking through at what worked well and what did not work well.
7th November: Today we started editing our new footage and added it into our existing video.
10th November: Today I went back to our website and started making improvements. I also created a mobile site to make sure that if people was to access it through a mobile phone it would look good and not be all jumbled up.
11th November: During today's lesson I carried on editing our music video and then we realised that we are going to have to film again for the 4th time so we have enough evidence to finish the music video. We then started to plan when we are next going to film and we have decided to film in the drama studio rather than Charlotte's house and we are going to make it look like we have a live band behind our star.
12th November: During the lesson today we were preparing to film for the 4th time. Me and Emma went back to Charlotte's house and I then completed her hair and makeup. We then went back to school into the drama studio and set up the production. We had three cameras on Charlotte from all different angles and the lighting and background changed with her performing.
13th November: We looked at all the footage we had got from the night before in the lesson today. I starting playing around with Premier effects to help make it look more professional. Emma then updated the shooting schedule and risk assessment.
14th November: Today we all carried on editing with the footage we have got and I was also experimenting with the effects on Adobe Premier.
17th November: During lesson today Emma, Charlotte and I all sat down and went through all the footage we had so we could edit and improve our music video. I also started to look at the website again to check for improvements.
18th November: In this lesson I was experimenting with Adobe Premier and carried on editing for our music video. I then started to change things on the website and created more merchandise and got rid of the basic pieces we had available from the store.
19th November: Today I started to look on the year blog and done some more blog posts, I also helped Charlotte with editing on Premiere.
20th November: During this lesson our teacher was looking through our blogs so she could give us some feedback tomorrow. Whilst she was doing that I was editing our footage.
21st November: Our Teacher gave us some feedback on blogs today and change the layout of the website.
24th November: In the lesson today Emma created another tour poster to advertise Grace, she used a different photo and used a different style of font to see what looked best and the most effective. She also experimented with the colour of the font to see what goes best with the theme of colours we have used. I also created my own poster so we could all see what one we prefer.
25th November: Me and Emma uploaded the posters onto our blogs and then I carried on editing our music video and playing around with the effects to make it look even better.
26th November: In class today me and Emma started creating the back of the CD cover for our digipak, and then we can all carry on creating the rest of it and put it together.
27th November: Today Emma carried on creating the digipak and improving it by changing the font and its size also the colour contrasts etc. Me and Charlotte sat by Emma to give her some ideas and helped with the designing.
28th November: In our lesson today Emma carried on designing and improving our digipak. I had already created the front cover of the album and Emma had already created the back of the CD cover and when we put them together they didn't look much like they were the same CD. Therefore Emma and I decided to edit and change the letters that say 'In Time' on the front cover by adding the glittery text from the background of the back of the CD cover. I went onto photo shop and started to add the glitter into the font and change the opacity so it went right.
1st November: Emma and I created the lyrics page and CD for our digipak today. We had to hand in our first draft of our digipak.
2nd November: In the lesson Emma created a CD design she thought would go well with our design. However me and Charlotte did not feel as though the design went with the rest of the CD. Emma then decided to change the whole CD and start again whilst we gave feedback and tips.
3rd November: Today Emma and I finally finished the digipak and uploaded it to our blogs and also we were sorting out our labels on our blogs to make things easier to view.
4th November: During the lesson today I caught up on blog posts and found all the drafts of our digipak and uploaded them to the blog so people can compare the difference and the change. We received feedback from the rest of the year about our digipack, and like we agreed with the feedback that we got. Therefore me and Emma sat down and had a thought about what we could do. I went on the edit the special thanks page so that the glitter design was incorporated into this page. I also edited the picture page and changed the design completely and added the background to be the glitter design. We were really happy with the outcome.
5th November: Today the class watched all the year 13's first drafts and analysed them and gave them feedback so that they knew what to improve on.
8th November: We watched all the year 12's opening sequences today in class and we had to give each group feedback so that they knew what they had to improve on and what could make it better.
9th November: I went through and put together all of the changes of the Digi Pack.
10th November: We looked at all of the feedback the year group gave us on our music video and this meant we had to change some of the shots we had included. Therefore me and Charlotte went through and deleted the shots we did not need any more and we sat down with our teacher to see what we can do to fill in the shots. Our teacher said we do not need any more footage and can just prolong the shots we have. However, we do not feel as though this will make the video look good due to the quick shots music videos have. Therefore we need to sit and think whether we need to shoot any more footage.
